1 What happened to Catharine Williams on Tue Dec 30, 2014 2:54 pm

On the 1871 census.

Catharine Williams born (c) 1870 Lydney Gloucestershire. Parents James Williams born 1845 Olveston Gloucestershire and Catharine Thompson born 1846 Gloucestershire.

Father James is a farmer, apart from that I can find no further information on this family.

Any help would be appreciated.

I looked to and couldn't find her. there is a Catherine maude may Williams baptised lydney 1870 to a john Robert william and Catherine Emma and can follow her through later life - though not 1871 census. she appears as mabel in 1881 .  but don't think she is your one.

Ancestry has a family tree with James Williams born Olveston & Catharine Thompson.

2 children listed Catharine 1873 and Jane 1868 plus a private one.

That family arrive in Massachusetts USA 1880.

Tree is confusing as another 4 children are listed with surname Law - 2 born in England and 2 born in USA.

Not clear who they belong to - 2nd marriage for Catharine perhaps but the birth dates don't tie in.

Um Neutral

I don't think I would take anything from that tree as it stands.

Ok the 1900 US census has

Catherine Law head 56 born Eng
Mary Law daughter 28 born Eng
Catherine Law daughter 27 born Eng
Edith Law daughter 24 born Eng
Richard P Law son 22 born Eng
Elizabeth Law daughter 18 born Mass
Frank Law son 14 born Mass

Could daughter Catherine be the Catherine Williams from the 1871?
Not really if she was born after the census Arrow

Aha Potts I wonder if that's a clue Idea

Marriage Sep 1870 has the names
Catherine Potts
Richard James Law

are we off up the wrong path do you think Question

That marriage was Nottingham so maybe we could find them in 1871 to rule them out.

That couple are in Nottingham in 1871 with a baby Philomenia 6 weeks.

Catherine born Nottingham so not siamese's girl.

15 Re: What happened to Catharine Williams on Mon Jan 05, 2015 10:23 pm

no I think she is someone completely different. think we need Siamese to answer so we know which family she is following up is it the james and Catherine with baby james in 1871 or is it the james who married an Elizabeth etc. we need to know the connection
