On the 3rd Jan 1920 Violet Gladys Ford married Eric Haines, Bristol. On familysearch found a translation of the marriage naming the father as Samuel Ford. Been onto ancestry and can I find the Ford family no.

Should mention Violet was born on the 13 October 1895 Bristol.

Any help would be appreciated.

On the 1901 census, there's :

Samuel Ford, 36, married, Grocer Provision Merchant,b. Cromhall, Glos
Elizabeth Ford, 42, wife, b. Tamworth, Staffs
Grace Ford, 12, dau, b. Tamworth
Edith Ford, 10, dau, b. Bristol
Doris Ford, 9, dau, b. Bristol
Winifred Ford, 7, dau, b. Bristol
Violet Ford, 5, dau, b. Bristol
May Ford, 1, dau, b. Bristol
Annie Britton, 15, dau, b. Cromhall, Glos

Could that be them?

Annie was Sarah Ann Britton living with her Grandparents in a earlier census.

There's a marriage on 25 May 1888 in Walsall between Samuel Pinnegar (great name!) Ford, bachelor, 24, clerk, s/o Richard Ford, grocer and a Sarah Elizabeth Taylor, spinster, 29, - , d/o Thomas Taylor, pensioner; witnesses Charles Taylor and Harriet Taylor.  And on the 1891 census, Samuel and Sarah have one of Sarah's sisters, Ellen (b. Tamworth) living with them.

Interesting. Wander how they met, Samuel a grocer in Bristol and Elizabeth living in Staffordshire, one will never know.

Been out all day but will try and find out more about Sarah Ann Britton.

Thanks

I don't get where Sarah Ann Britton comes from if her "parents" on the census were bachelors when they married - and neither parent had the surname Britton.

She is with Ford grandparents 1891 as you said so she must come from that side of the family.  Interesting.

Ah going back to 1881 with the grandparents Richard and Jane Ford they have a daughter Sarah Ann Britten age 19.  Married so little Sarah Ann no doubt sprung from her.

Might be this marriage in Thornbury Jun 1880 which covers Cromhall.
George Brittin
Sarah Ann Ford

Possible death for mum Thornbury Mar 1886
Sarah Ann Brittin age 24
Could tie in with birth of little Sarah Ann and she was named after her but am speculating there.
