You know I am useless at address searching Embarassed

I'm looking to find out who was living at 12 Stockbridge Road Padiham Lancs.

In 1911 it was a James Burton there on his todd a widowed coal miner hewer.

Background is that a little girl was born illegitimately in 1906 and that address is on the birth certificate.

The baby was called Maria Jackson mother Rebecca a domestic servant.

Rebecca was at home with her family in Shropshire 1901 and 1911 - no sign of the baby in 1911.  Rebecca married in 1912 and was at some point reunited with the baby as she was brought up with her other children.

I am useless too but finally got there

it appears to be a William Clarke aged 41 - a general labourer with his wife Ann aged 39 and their son wilfrid aged 2.

which didn't seem much help but then I saw that next door at 14 is a Jackson family

John C Jackson aged 44 born Blackburn with wife Bridget aged 48 born Ireland and 2 sons henry C aged 19 and William C aged 21 born Padiham. Could they be related

Oh well done thanks vron.

Jackson family next door is interesting will look into them in case there is a link.  This is for a friends husband.  Rebecca and his Jackson family came from Dawley Shropshire.

Apparently the father of the baby could have been an undertaker who the mother was domestically servicing (as it were) at the time.

I had a quick look at the Jackson family next door but unless the link is quite a long way back there didn't seem to be a connection. I noted your jacksons came from Shropshire and these jacksons seem to be Lancashire but ...

No I can't see a connection either.  Probably just a coincidence the neighbours were called Jackson.

Really need to find out who was living at that address in 1906 when the baby was born.  I can't imagine she just turned up on the doorstep of a complete strangers house and said excuse me can I have my baby in your house please.

Are there electoral registers available to look at online or would you have to contact the relevant parish - don't really know much about electorals.

Not to waste anyones time friend went to the WDYTYA live thing yesterday and asked there.  She was advised to contact Burnley library so it all rests with them.

Have ruled out the gentleman living there in 1911.  When his daughter married in 1909 and his wife died in 1910 they were at a different address so he must have moved there after his wife died.

On a different note entirely I made contact with a lady in America who has a George H in her tree Surprised He had daughters Sarah and Amelia which I mentioned were names in G's family so she immediately said he must be mine (I don't think he is as age and birthplace are out)

He had children with a Margaret Heathcote from 1853 and neither of us can find a marriage to confirm who his father was so another dead end really.

Anyway as you were flower
