Muddle with Melinda Taylor

Would appreciate some help tracing what happened to her. She was born Huddersfield 1844 to Jonathan and Eliza Taylor. I have her with parents in 1851/1861 but then think I made a mistake in marrying her off to a John Hall Whiteley in 1867 as when I checked the marriage her father is down as George not Jonathan

Looking for other likely candidates all I have found is a possible death in 1889 but that would mean she never married ie death is under Malinda Taylor and I can't find that person in 1881 either to check.

The marriage to Wood is in 1901 census and the ages are wrong as born in 1860s so back to the drawing board

she is a servant in 1871 with an abbey family who runs a hotel

So how do you explain the name of her father being George on the marriage cert and baptism when Tourmie says he is Jonathan and mother is Eliza

To confirm what I have is 1851 she is living Huddersfield with father John (Jonathan) 38 mother Eliza 35 brother William 14 and sisters Mary 11 and baby Elizabeth.

In 1861 she is living Huddersfield with father John 48 mother Eliza 45 sister Mary 21 and brother John 4.

Her birthplace is Paddock. I am thinking the 1844 birth is mine and the 1845 birth is the one with father George who marries John Hall Whiteley.

Mother Eliza dies in 1870. I think the 1871 census entry is probably her and possibly the death in 1889 but I can't find her in 1881 to give any clues.

If you look at the baptism of Malinda with father George you will see that she is the one born 1844 November so will be the one registered in Dec qtr 1844 so she cant be the one who is yours Tourmie

Oh scrap that theory then thanks I will amend that to mine being the 1845 one instead!

I thought Malinda would be quite an easy name to trace but not the case. I can't see any Malinda Taylor or anything like Taylor in 1881 at all.

The 1889 death was aged 45 so about right to be her. Will have another scour of 1881 tomorrow and see if she pops up.

Nothing coming up on familysearch for her and tried lots of stuff but only the one person.

I even tried just searching for Malinda and the birth date but not found her

i had a good look in the 1881 census to see if i can find her but nothing. it is strange becasue thought there is definately two melindas i cant find the one with father george on the earlier census.

I can't find the other one on earlier census either. Only in 1871 can we find both at the same time.
Can only lean towards the death in 1889 as the most likely for now. Thanks for looking for her.
