Has anyone done this and been pleased with the results?

I am contemplating sending for my uncles and already bogged down just reading the instructions.

Technically my father is the next of kin but it seems I can make the application with his permission.
Don't know his service number or his NINO nor have copy of death certificate.

On the plus side it would be interesting to read because he went to India and Singapore.

Hubby sent for his fathers a few years ago but that was easier with the P-H name and we already had a copy of the death.

What do you think?  Comments appreciated Smile

Er, whassat?   Embarassed

I've never tried it.  During WWII my father was in the RAF as an engineer on ground maintenance of planes, and the furthest he got away from home was RAF Leuchars in Scotland, so his records wouldn't make the most interesting of reading.

Sorry, can't be more help/encouragement  bounce

Oops sorry it's an abbreviation we used at work all the time and has stuck - it's National Insurance Number Laughing

That's ok you can help me with ordering the death because it's not on BMD.  Found it on Ancestry but haven't done one that recent before - which of these numbers would I use to order?
I'm used to doing the volume and page number from BMD but this one has 3 lots of numbers.

Oh, I've never done one like that either Surprised  Really not being much help with this at all, am I? Embarassed

Could you pop into your local Registrar's Office and ask them which numbers to use?   Question

This is what the GRO form asks for so that's still only two numbers not three  Neutral

District name and Number*

Entry Number*

DOR (Date of Registration, mm/yyyy)*

Think I will ask on Roots - someone always has the answer to any question on there (apart from where George is of course!)
