While reading the probate for William Brown 1828-1885 Bristol, found he had a brother Abiezer County Brass Moulder.

Abiezer Brown 1823-1894, parents William and Mary Brown.

Its the marriage I am having trouble with or 2 maybe.

Looks like Abiezer married a Mary Ann Freeman in 1841, on the 1851 census Abeizer is a Foundry Man, wife is May born 1820 Bristol. Two daughters Elizabeth and Anne.
1861 census, Abeizer is a Brass Founder, wife Mary A born in Wales. 2 daughters Mary A and Elizabeth.
1871 Same as in 1861, 2 daughters have left home.
1881 Abiezer wife is now Margaret born 1839 in Gloucester.
1891 Abiezer is a Market Gardener, wife Mary born 1841 Bitton.
In 1875 there is a marriage between a Abiezer Brown and a Mary Ann Smart.

So did Abiezer marry twice?
Was Margaret incorrect on the 1881 census
Was the 1851 census incorrect in saying the wife was called May and born in Bristol not Wales.

Any ideas?

Think they must be two different Marys:
Mary No. 1 is 2-3 years older than Abiezer
Mary No. 2 is 16 years younger.
Maybe Margaret was just an aberration by the enumerator?

There's a letter from Abiezer in the Western Daily Post dated 3 Oct 1868 about losing his voting rights. It's on FMP.

PS : Interesting name, Abiezer. Never come across it before.

Oh, forgot to say, there's a death of a Mary Ann Brown in Clifton in 1874. She's 55, so that would fit with (a) Mary 1 being b.1819/20 and (b) the ages given for her on various census records.
