Ambrose Peach born 1826 (c) Moreton on the Marsh.
On the 1861 census Ambrose is living with 2 of his brothers and 1 sister in Moreton, classed as unmarried.
On the 1881 census he is classed as a Widower living in Spilsby Lincolnshire

The only marriage I can find is in 1847

Marriages Sep 1847 (>99%)

Ambrose

I also am having difficulty in finding him in 1851 and 1871.

Any help would be appreciated.

You probably have this but in 1891/1901 he is down as widower in the workhouse unfortunately.
Death in Spilsby 1903 age 77.

It might help if we know who the wife in 1847 was but there are 4 to choose from.

Having trouble finding him in 1851/1871 too scratch

Family search has an Ambrose Peach in 1871 born 1828 Gloucestershire age 43 residing in Cookham Berkshire working as a butler but I can't see it on ancestry.

The head of house is William Hassell age 71 from Bolton and he has a wife, 3 daughters and 6 servants. Will see if I can find it under his name.

There's a Frances Peach death in Coventry in 1879 which would fit with Ambrose being a widower in 1881 but she's 81 born 1798 so would have been a tad older than him to say the least.

Maybe the marriage didn't work out and they separated that's why he puts unmarried in 1861 but legitimately puts widowed once she had died.

Few knots to untangle yet I fear.

Last one (before lunch!) I promise.

There be a family tree with Frances on and she has 3 illegitimate children before she marries Ambrose. Maybe he found out and disowned her but bless her she puts married on her census entries.

There we go. Food for thought and for lunch.

Thanks again Tourmie,

The marriage must be correct to Fran ces as Ambrose's father was Joseph Peach shoemaker,

He was living in Worcester in 1841 so appears to travel but why go to Lincolnshire. He died in that workhouse in 1903, sad.

Had a good look at the library this morning and found a few snippets.

The 1871 where he is a butler status is down as widower.

Frances Peach in 1871 is in Coventry age 73 married and a dressmaker born Coventry.

Frances Peach 81 buried 22 April 1879 Coventry London Road Civic Cemetery (forget what I said about Camberwell in my message siamese that was another case I was working on yesterday Embarassed )

Onto newspaper reports one of which frustratingly I could not view.

Oxford Journal 5 April 1862 Moreton in Marsh Ambrose Peach doing a charming flute solo Like a Star @ heaven

Sussex Advertiser 25 April 1854 Chertsey this is the one I couldn't read but it referred to him as a butler to Joseph Dobinson Milton Place Egham.
I found said Joseph Dobinson a magistrate in 1851 Egham Lodge Berkshire.  His wife was born Jamaica and his son was a barrister.  However someone called John Caplin was his butler not Ambrose but he could have replaced him.

No trace of Ambrose or Frances in 1851 when they may or may not have been together.

That family tree on ancestry is fascinating - at least from Frances side - as it gives info on her children, 3 of 4 were born to a surgeon Percy Fitzpatrick.

1851 for Frances, and can't pretend to have found it myself, there is a roots topic about her children that mentions it.

Frances Teake 52 head married dressmaker born Coventry living York Street Coventry on her own.

So we have one of them in 1851 and know she wasn't together with Ambrose.  Have to wonder really why she got married at all.

siamesewillow

We will never know, just a few guesses.

See the youngest Fitzparick son Percy born 1822 went to Australia married and dies there
Cannot find out much about the daughter Henietta/Devine.
The eldest son Thomas (who seems to have a different father is married with a family in Coventry, noticed one of the daughters was named Frances.

Another odd entry on ancestry

Name:

Henrietta Louisa Elizabeth Bromfield
Parish:
Coventry, St Thomas
Baptism Date:
13 Aug 1856
Father's Name:
Percy Fitzpatrick Bromfield
Mother's Name:
Frayer Bromfield

Likely the son Percy's daughter but he married out in Australia in 1851, his wife was called Lucy Cope.

Maybe 2 Patrick Fitzpatrick Bromfields.

Noticed on ancestry a load of photos etc of a younger Percy Fitzpatrick Bromfield.

Must get back to the Peach family who I am helping a friend with.

Thanks

From the reading I was doing this afternoon Henrietta was the daughter of Frances and there was a note she was baptised in the same place as her brothers but years later when she was an adult.

When the first boy Thomas gets married in 1839 he names John Bromfield weaver who was Frances father and apparently he was brought up by his grandparents.

Fascinating stuff but yes back to the Peaches.
