Just popped ino ancestry/probate/wills and found a death/probate in 1929, Birmingham West Midlands
1939 Bristol

1929 Birmingham one is William Ernest of 7 Adderley Road Saltley died 6 Sep 1929 18 Union Road Erdington. Admin to Sidney Allen clerk. Effects £10.00.

1939 Bristol one is Ernest William of 103 Downend Road Horfield died 3 Jan 1939. Admin to Lilian Allen widow. Effects £732 9s.

How about this one.

Ernest William of Hillbourne The Avenue Walton Park Clevedon died 15 August 1932.  Probate Bristol to Edith Maud Consuelo Allen * spinster - wasn't his daughter with Frances Edith? - and Henry Mark Allen sugar broker.  Effects £8431 3s 2d.

Another thought, going back to the 1901 census the Ernest married to Ada was a Railway Engine Stoker. What was Ernest who was with Francis's occupation?

Been on to FreeBMD no luck with Henry Mark. thought he might of been born after 1912.

Had another look at the tree on Mundia and according to hiim his Ernest was a Assistant Superintendent but need to check this.

I will contact this man again and let him know what is on the marriage certificate to Ada and tell him I will order a marriage certificate for Ernest and Francis. Hopefully I should get some response.

Yes the Ernest with Frances in 1901 was "assistant superintendent" - worker. They were in Worcestershire at this time. 39 Edgbaston Road. Smethwick district.

Yes quite who is this Henry Mark? Only one child born by 1911. Could he have been a brother of Ernest perhaps rather than a son. The plot thickens.

Coming in very late to this as had visitors over weekend. As I understand it you are interested in ada jane blore as she is your relative. She married ernest William allen in 1893 and you have marriage certificate. You claim ada in 1911 with 4 living children is yours . how do you know that ? do you know they were her children from family stories etc.

Ada Jane Blore claims her birthplace as Birmingham when she is at home with her brothers and sisters in earlier census. Ada Allen in 1911 states Oxfordshire corrected to Bristol.

Is it possible ada jane allen nee blore died and he simply remarried francis a few years later

Mabel Allen born 1897 Bristol. Parents Ernest William Allen and Ada Jane Blore, sister Katherine Mary.

Your theory makes sense vron that Ada died the following year and Ernest remarried quite legitimately but if so the above can't be true that Ada Jane had a daughter Mabel in 1897.

Have you got any birth certificates with mother Ada Jane Allen nee Blore siamese to confirm she was still alive after 1894

Pleased to have a fresh look on things.

The 1911 census entry I only came accross recently but I am almost sure the 1901 census is correct, but could be wrong.

May well have to order a death certificate before the marriage although could still be the same Ernest William.

Another doult I now have is on the 1901 census one Ernest is a Railway Engine Stoker, would come home with dirty overalls after stoking up the fire all day, while the other Ernest was in insurance a clean job.

The Blore family lived in Redditch although their births were reg in Birmingham.

Unfortunately no. No baptisms on FS either.

So to get my head around this family, we could be looking at two Ernest Williams, One remarried to Francis in 1897 to Francis and a totally different Ernest William Allen with wife Ada Jane and two daughters in 1901.

Certainly cannot afford 3 certificates so the death one first I think to check if Ada is still alive in 1901.

Off to do that now.

If so there are trees with Ada death (under Allen) 1903 Pancras age 34 - what was she doing there

Don't think that's right, probate record for Ada Jane Allen death 7 Jan 1903 is wife of Arthur Allen.

I don't think the Ada with the missing husband and 4 children in 1911 is yours because she has written not only birthplace but birthstreet which looks like Jacob St, St Phillips Bristol.

Married 16 years which would fit this one.

I have just ordered a death certificate fffor Ada Jane Allen 1894, should arrive on the 16 Nov. Will let you know the results thanks to Vron just as well I did not order the marriage certificate but I certainly did not notice that death entry in 1894. Sad if it is.

personally think ada in 1901 and 1911 is a red herring. she is born Bristol not Birmingham. She never has a middle name. her husband is called William wheres ernest seems to be referred to as ernest when growing up and he is a railway stoker not insurance agent

looking at that William in 1901 he is born 1872 Bristol. there is this one aged 19 in the 1891 census who is a railway engine cleaner

Pound to a penny vron is right and the death certificate will be for the right Ada.  In which case we owe Ernest a humble apology for speculating he was a bigamist!

The death certificate has arrived and Vron was correct (thanks) This is my Ada died in 1894 of TB and Asthma, husband Ernest William Allen Life Assurance Agent. So he married twice. The 2 daughters must belong to the other couple.
