Still checking records from ancestry family trees.

Cannot find a birth or death record for

Fanny Catherine Blakeney/Beaken. born 1861 Horton Gloucestershire. Fanny dies before 1871. Parents William Blakeney and Rebecca Beard.

The surname Blakeney is spelt many ways

Any help would be appreciated.

i can see her as fanny with parents in 1861 census. if you do not have her birth or death how do you know she is fanny CATHERINE

I'm guessing they had another daughter later on called Fanny Catherine and this is the second one? Haven't found the first one yet.

Fanny Catherine E Bleakon

Date of Registration:

Jul-Aug-Sep 1869

Thanks,

The name Fanny Cartherine was on one of the ancestry family trees who are also researching the Blakeney's Looks to me as if a mistake has been made and there is only one Fanny. Thanks Tourmie and Vron.

ther must be a fanny born 1860 ish as she is on 1861 census with family but she might not have had second name catherine.

Yes there definitely seems to be two Fannys. The one in 1861 aged 1 and the later one who is on later census with the family.

I've tried various spellings for births 1859/1860 and deaths before 1871 in that area but no luck.
Possibly Fanny wasn't the name she was registered under or the surname isn't under any combination starting with B!

Might have something not sure. I looked for births of the other children to see what surname spellings they were registered under and there was a son called Giles on the census.

He is registered under Giles Beard Blaken. Beard was mothers maiden name I see.

Looking under Beard there is this possible for the first Fanny.

Births Dec 1859 (>99%)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BEARD Mary Fanny Chipping S 6a 154

Maybe it got registered wrong or isn't her Question but age is right to be 1 in 1861 census.

If that is her she didn't die before 1871 as there is a Mary F Beard on 1871 census born Hawkesbury age 11 servant living with another family.

Really not sure - what do you reckon?

tournie - i found and wondered the same but what put me off is that william and rebecca married long before fanny 1860 birth so there would be no need for her to be registered under the name beard????????????

i did find this 1881 census entry which appears to be the family with the second fanny which would seem to indicate first fanny died

Yep scrap what I said. Have found Mary Fanny Beards father when she married was John Beard. Oh well was a long shot.

Beats me where the birth and death for the first Fanny is. The other children I looked up were under Bleakon or Blaken. Parents marriage under Bluken.
Has a family ever had as many different spellings as this!

yes its a puzzler - i have looked for births and deaths just uner fanny and variants - no surname and then bleakney, blakeney etc etc with no christian names and cant seem to find anything remotely right

it is really strange because on the 1861 census there is elder siblings william and giles and their christenings can be found . but no fanny ....... then there is george 1864 baptism but no ruben, fanny or emma from 1881 census. cant see family in 1871

Giles is under Blaken 1854
William is under Blaken 1857
George is under Bleakon 1864
Reuben is under Bleakon 1867
Fanny number two is under Bleakon 1869
Emma is under Bleakon 1872

I suppose conceivably Fanny number one could have been born elsewhere but birthplace on census is same as the rest.

There's another family with same surname a house or two down but even if little Fanny strayed into the wrong house it still says daughter and there would still be a birth for her.

Must assume she dies between 1861 and 1869 when the second Fanny is born.

Mystery indeed. Can't think what else to try. Surname has always started with a B whatever letters come next.
