New Coole lookup please

Albert Coole born 1857 Gloucestershire. Parents Samuel and Hannah Coole. Married Annie Eliza Eaton 1890 in Prestwick.

In 1901 they are living in Manchester and Albert is a Boot Clipper. There appears to be no children.

But what happened afterwards, cannot find them on the 1911 census.

Any help would be appreciated.

That name rings a bell. Was he the one down as single and died in London but wife was still alive? I could be mixing up your Cooles!

Anyway there is an Albert Cole in Manchester 1911 boarder who is a clicker for boot manufacturer. He is down as 49 and single.

Have you got them as newly married in 1891?

There's a death 1924 Chorlton Lancs for an Albert Coole born abt 1859. Is that the right area of Lancs for where the boot clicker was I wonder. Seems to cover Manchester.

Tourmie, It was Alfred John Coole who you are thinking of, the marriage ended between 1891 and 1901, Alfred went off to London and his wife remarried in 1919.

Hope it does not run in the family but see Albert was classed as single in 1911, may of been a mistake as he was a boarder and the owners thought he was single???? but thanks for finding him, will now go and see what happened to Annie.

So I may have the wrong bride? Vron, could well be the correct marriage as Samuel Coole occupation was a bootmaker. Off to ancestry.

yes grace royd is on the same page for the marraige in prestwich in 1890

Found the marriage in 1890 for Albert Coole on FreeBMD to either a Grace Royds or Annie Eliza Eaton, so looks like I had the wrong bride.

But what I cannot quite understand is I cannot find any entry for a Albert and Grace Coole. On the 1901 census I found this entry

On BMD for the 1890 marriage there are 3 grooms and only 2 brides so Albert could belong to the missing bride and not be married to Annie Eliza or Grace?

No maybe not, the other groom seems to be the rogue element and belongs elsewhere.

It's very confusing isn't it with the coincidences of Manchester and boot clicking.

It does seem as if the Grace vron found is the Grace that dies in 1892 but where was she in 1891 and what name was she under

Still not clear in my mind, surely if Grace died in 1892 her surname would be Coole seeing she married Albert in 1890?

May of found Grace in 1891, but she is down as (S) she is working as a servant so may not want people to know she was married.

I wondered about that one, good point about a servant putting single status. They weren't so keen on marrieds were they.

Yes agree the other Grace should have been registered under Coole if it was she dying in 1892 soooooo does that mean there must be another Grace on the loose prior to her marriage?

Either that or it is the same person Maybe they had parted ways and when she died her married name wasn't given or known.

If we could find a Grace Royds in 1891 to pair up with the death in 1892 would help somewhat.

Do we have a lone Albert in 1891 boot clicking somewhere in the area to pair up with Grace the servant?

it is confusing - nothing seems to add up yet.

going back to the albert with annie and no children in 1901 census - that albert even if not yours must marry annie sometime or be in census before then.

edit - no that one was born chorlton 1873 so cant be the one in the census born bristol

i do think albert and annie are yours in 1901

So recapping just for clarity

we have grace royds at home in 1871 and 1881 with father james ( which we know is right name from marriage entry on lancs opd)

she then marries albert coole in 1890.

In 1891 she is in census as grace coole and a servant - though down as single . we cant find any other grace royd in 1891 census.

In 1892 there is a death with right birth age but down as grace royd.

After 1892 cant find anything else that fits for a grace royd or coole - no census entries, no remarriages or deaths.

Turning to albert born Bristol
We cant find him for definite in 1891

In 1901 he is with an annie though cant find any marriage for them . perhaps they didn’t

Cant find him or annie in 1911

There is a death in lancs in 1924

We are going round in circles aren't we The Albert/Annie combo leads us neatly back to the marriage in 1890 Annie Eliza bride which we had in the first place.

We know that is the wrong bride and the bride was Grace so you could be right he just happened to be living with an Annie in 1901.

Well what a mystery, but intend to sort it out.
Now this is how I think,

Albert marries Grace in 1890 as Annie marries Benjamin

Both marriages are not happy.

Grace leaves Albert and obtains a position as a servant in 1891, she is so bitter that she goes back to her maiden surname, unfortunately she dies in 1892. The only death I can find for a Grace Coole is in 1952.

Albert now a widower has a eye for Annie who married Benjamin in 1890. Albert and Annie move in together and put themselves down as married in 1901, which is not true.
Have looked for a death for Benjamin before 1901 but no luck so Annie and Albert may be just living with each other.

Off to see what Benjamin is doing in 1911

No luck only one Benjamin can I find and he was born in Warwickshire, wife Hannah ( could be Ann) but again Hannah was born in Warwickshire,
