Back to George Hinchliffe again (sorry!)

Trying to find this one below in 1861 or earlier please to cross off the list of suspects.

Burial is Holmfirth 25/11/1863 age 26. I can't read his abode - is anyone with Ancestry (West Yorks burial bit) able to read it?

Holmfirth wasn't too far from home but it means this chap is around in 1861 somewhere whoever he was.

Thank you.

Hum!

What about Cartworth?

There's a Carthworth Fold due south of the balloon on Googlemaps (if you search for Holmfirth and zoom in quite a bit) and someone on the next page is from there, although that's much clearer.

Other than that, am a bit stumped.  The curate's handwriting is a bit, er, challenging.

Edited to add: There are other Hinchliffe's in Cartworth in 1861 ...

Thanks STG Cartworth looks good to me.

Have found a George age 24 in 1861 born Cartworth son of George & Ann.  He is with them in 1851 so definitely not mine.

He would have been 26 in 1863 so I think the death is more likely to be his.

Had a  Idea that maybe he was buried with mother or siblings so have been checking that out.

Needless to say no luck so far Rolling Eyes  His mother, brother and sister buried at Edgerton Cemetery Huddersfield were in separate public graves so anyone unrelated could have been buried in with them.

Sad isn't it  Sad

Lady from Huddersfield family history society found a very likely looking death but when I checked my "Wrong George" list it was on there as not mine Crying or Very sad

She asked for the census of where he was last living and said the names sounded familiar.  Would you believe her husband is descended from one of his sisters how amazing is that Shocked

She is trying one more place and getting back to me tomorrow.

In the meantime Happy Easter Weekend everyone sunny

Excited  bounce

No she hasn't found George but she has sent me a lovely photo of Amelia one of George's sisters who her husband is descended from.

He knew nothing about her husband Abraham dying at sea so have been able to send a copy of his death on board ship plus a photo of the gravestone of his parents where he is remembered.

At last I have a photo  cheers

I've been slightly rash and sent for the death cert for William Woodhead who George's mother married in 1854. He died in 1861.

Real long shot but wouldn't it be wonderful if George was the informant  Basketball

Pretty sure he won't be but in any event will be another piece of info to add to the file.

Quick update.

Got the death cert for William and the informant was Jane Binns.
Unless that was George in disguise the quest continues.... Arrow

Nosy as I am have been looking to see who Jane Binns was.

Born 1806 Cumberworth Yorks.

Found a marriage Thomas Binns to Jane Wood Huddersfield 1828.

Now Sarah we believe was Sarah Wood could Jane have been her sister?

Found a baptism for Jane daughter of John Wood and Mary Berry from Shepley which is very near Cumberworth/Huddersfield.

All speculation and I guess I need to look for more baptisms from John and Mary but how funny if sending for that cert in the quest for George has led me onto something significant.
