I have these three brothers all were brothers to my grandmother Mary Anderson/Lloyd she died in 1911 the same week of the census so did not appear.

The Anderson boys were in Liverpool on the 1901 census with mother Isabella and sister Mary Lloyd but I think Isabella died in 1909 or thereabouts.

Can anyone help find these missing boys/men.

Harold A Anderson 1872 Whitehaven
Alfred Anderson 1873 Blackburn Lancs
Johnathan Anderson 1874 Blackburn Lancs
Mary Anderson 1877 Chesterfield darbyshire, died 1911 Liverpool (I have everything on Mary)
Father
Joseph Anderson 10th apr 1836, married 12 Aug 1871 I have the cert for the marriage
died betw 1877& 1881 possibly Chesterfield as Isabella in Liverpool in 1881 with Mary and Isabellas brother Jonathan Harrison.

The boys were with Grandparents Anderson in Workhouse in Cockermouth in 1881

I can see Isabella in 1881 but she is down as Married so maybe husband didn't die before 1881.
Brother is also down as Married but without a wife.

They're all nicely together in 1891 West Derby. Isabella is now down as a widow.

Any idea why the boys were in the workhouse in 1881?

I have all the census somewhere but not immediatly to hand and a quick reply to your plea came from top of my head.

I have no record of Joseph Anderson since their marriage Aug 1871 Whitehaven and Marys Birth in April 1876 Chesterfield Dbyshre and thought he had died somewhere between Marys Birth and the 1881 census.

The boys were in the workhouse I think it was Workington and grandparents Jonathan and Mary Anderson were there too.1881.

I have no record of those Andersons after that one.

So if you think Joseph was alive in 1881 he was a solicitors clerk by trade. His father John a labourer.

So there are a few little searches for you Tourmie.
My filing system on this line is just being overhauled but I have not dug out my census copies yet.

Thank you

Edna

Re Jonathan Harrison 1833 Whitehaven the only likely one is married to a Frances Bradley in 1856 and they are together in 1881 when your Jonathan is with Isabella so can't be him.

Anderson Mary 74 W. Derby 8b 368

Might be the same woman but can't say for sure.

Can't really find any deaths in those areas for either with the right ages.

It is possible Mary would have come to Liverpool to be with Family or near if she was widowed by then.
Deaths are a needle in a haystack really unless you have something close to the date like widowhood but thanks for trying.
