Hope you enjoyed your evening out Edna.

It definitely says birthplace Glos for John on the 1871 census. Wife Elizabeth also born Glos Bristol so wonder what brought them to Lancashire.
I lose track of which county Bristol is in - when I was at school it was in Avon Laughing

Maybe it isn't Walton - the word kind of trails off. Will see if can find him on earlier census.

The link between Liverpool and Bristol is the Port, both big seafearing ports, maybe more work for cab/coach men in Liverpool.
